Decorating my new house

It is a very exciting adventure to take on decorating a new house, but it can also be very intimidating. It shouldn't be though, this is a chance to show personal style, and can be really fun! There are many themes and colors to choose from for each room. A great way to approach how you decorate is to choose a decorative item that speaks to you. For example, you may like a painting that is a row of old wine bottles. From there you can pick one or two of the colors from the painting to use on the walls. After that maybe take the antique tan color from one of the bottle labels and find curtains in that color. Finally, with the wine bottle theme in mind go out and search for items that will compliment, perhaps a dried flower arrangement, place mats, or a funky wine rack. Also, be sure that if there are other rooms that this one flows into that the themes match in some way. One doesn't want to have an antique look in one room that flows into a super mod, bright colored room. Furniture for homes comes in many styles and colors. There are antique looking pieces that can be refurbished or even re-purposed. There are also many contemporary pieces that won't break the bank. Try thrift stores and check the classifieds where great deals can be found. Items found this way are unique and show personality. However, if you really love a piece in a furniture store that is brand new, go for it! Many stores have weekly specials or deals as well. In the end, as long as you are creative and have fun with the decorating, you are sure to impress everyone. Enjoy showing off all your efforts by throwing a house warming part and inviting all your friends, relatives and neighbors to see all the hard work.
